Thank you for taking a moment to visit Core Creek Community Church online. Please take a moment to look through the links on our site. If you live in the Langhorne area and you aren't already a part of another church family, we would love to invite you to come and visit us in person as well.

Core Creek Community Church is a church that is committed to keeping things simple and purposeful. Our weekly schedule of activities is primarily devoted toward helping our people grow closer to the Lord through; the study of the Bible, prayer, personal interaction and service opportunities. We believe that by growing closer to the Lord through faith, we will be blessed with His help and wisdom to approach all aspects of life in a better way.

Our Sunday morning worship service begins at 11:00 AM and ends around 12:15 PM. During the service, we offer a Children's Church program for ages 4-10 as well as nursery care for infants and children ages 3 and under.

During the week we host "Core Groups" which are small-group Bible studies. We also host programs for children and youth. More information about each of these programs can be found by clicking the links in the sidebar of this page.

A Summary of our Beliefs

Our core beliefs can be summed up rather quickly. We believe in Jesus Christ and that eternal life is given as a free gift to everyone who trusts in Him. We believe the Bible to be true, accurate and helpful so we make a point to read it and teach from it. We believe that everyone who has trusted in Jesus for salvation is part of a new family called the "church." As part of the church, we are to foster community, serve one another, pray for one another and encourage each other to grow in our faith in Jesus.

If you would like to read a more detailed explanation of our beliefs as well as a list of references from the Bible that form the basis for what we believe, please continue to read below.

BELIEFS / DOCTRINES

We believe the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments to be the Word of God (1). We believe it to be Divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit (2). We further believe that its declarations are final (3). And that it is the only true rule of faith and practice (4).

BIBLICAL INERRANCY

We believe that the scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments are, in their original autographs, wholly and verbally given by God and are therefore free from error or fault. Furthermore, the Bible is without error in all of its teachings. This is true no less when it speaks about creation, science, geography or world history, than when it reveals the condition of man and God�s plan of salvation. While the Bible is not specifically a textbook on science, history, mathematics or geography, we are convinced that whatever statements it makes within the scope of any of these subjects is without error.

This doctrine of inerrancy is verified by:
1. The character of God - Psalm 119:160; Hebrews 6:17,18.
2. The testimony of Jesus Christ - John 17:17. 101.2
3. The witness of the Apostles.
- Paul (II Timothy 3:16)
- Peter (II Peter 1:21)
4. The convictions of the Church Fathers - from Iranaeus to Augustine, Luther, Calvin, Wesley, etc.
5. The results of modern scholarship
- archaeological findings and the research done on discoveries like the Dead Sea Scrolls only confirm the position of inerrancy always held by the evangelical church.

We believe the Bible teaches the following doctrines:

THE TRIUNE GOD:

We believe that God exists in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three Persons, one God (1). We believe He is self-existent, infinite, personal, unchangeable and eternal in His being (2). He is perfect in holiness, love, justice, goodness, wisdom and truth (3). He is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent (4). He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, visible and invisible (5).

THE DEITY OF JESUS CHRIST:

We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ (1); in His eternity (2); in His incarnation by the virgin birth (3); thus uniting perfect man and perfect God in one body (4). We believe also in His sinless life (5); in His vicarious death (6); and bodily resurrection from the dead (7); in His ascension to the right hand of the Father (8). We further believe in His present ministry of advocacy (9); and His coming again in power and glory (10).

THE DEITY AND PERSONALITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT:

We believe the Holy Spirit to be the third Person of the blessed Trinity. He is eternally God (1). His office work is to reprove the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment (2). We believe the Holy Spirit to be a Person (3), Who regenerates (4), sanctifies (5), empowers (6), teaches (7), guides (8), and comforts (9). He is at work in the world as a witness to Christ (10), as the builder of the Church (11), and as the indweller of the brethren (12).

MAN:

We believe that man was created by the direct act of God, in His image, possessing personality (1) and the right of choice. In his original state man enjoyed fellowship with God (2). We further believe that man chose not to remain in the happy state in which God created him; being tempted by Satan, he became disobedient (3), and incurred upon himself and his posterity the sentence that sin deserved (4). We further believe that man in his natural state cannot please God (5).

REDEMPTION:

We believe that God has provided redemption for all men through the death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross (1). We further believe that since man cannot save himself, God has provided the perfect offering for sin in Christ (2).

We believe that man is justified in the sight of God by faith, and that true, genuine faith produces regeneration, also called the new birth (1).
We further believe that Godly sorrow for sin (repentance) will produce reformation of character (2).

SANCTIFICATION:

We believe that sanctification is the work of the Holy Spirit in the heart (1), setting apart or consecrating for a task (2), producing holiness in the life (3).

THE SECOND COMING:

We believe that Jesus Christ will come again to the earth to reign (1). We believe that it will be pre-millenial, visible and redemptive (2). This is the great source of motivation for purification (3), and inspiration for Christian service (4).

THE JUDGMENTS:

We believe in the resurrection of the bodies of both the just and the unjust (1); the just first (2) to the seat of Christ for reward of works (3), and entrance into heaven, and the unbeliever to the Great White Throne for judgment of sin (4) and banishment from the presence of God forever (hell).

THE CHURCH:

Church Leadership

John Stange is the pastor of Core Creek Community Church. He met his wife, Andrea, while they were students at Philadelphia Biblical University. John and Andrea have four children.

John has been in pastoral ministry since 1998. He has also served as the Production Director and Announcer for WRGN Christian radio and as the Director of the Pocono Mountain Bible Conference, a Christian retreat center and Summer camp. In 2004, John authored the book, Words that Sting - How to handle destructive criticism like Jesus.

This picture was taken while the Stanges were on vacation in Celebration, Florida. As you can probably tell, the kids had a great time running through the water fountains.

Ed Pfender is an elder at Core Creek Community Church. He met his wife Karen at Penn State University nearly 37 years ago and is the proud father of 6 kids; Sara, Becky, Jon, Ruth, Matthew, and Mark, and two grand kids; Zeke and Ella Kate.

Ed is always looking for God's will in whatever comes his way. He works as a Maintenance Technician at McNeil consumer products, (and as a jack of all trades home-handyman).

Sunday Morning

Our Sunday morning worship service is an enjoyable time of worship and fellowship. The service incorporates singing, prayer, and in-depth study of the Bible.

Our pastor teaches through the Bible in a practical and easy-to-understand manner with the goal of sharing how the teaching of God's Word applies to everyday life. Click here to hear an example.

Children are welcome to attend and participate in our worship services. During the pastor's sermon, they are invited to take part in our "Children's Church" program which is held on the lower level of the church building. This enables them to hear an age-appropriate lesson while at the same time giving parents a chance to relax and grow in their understanding of God's Word without feeling distracted.

Our church is small, but growing. If you're looking for a smaller church that would love to welcome you and your family, we invite you to visit us this Sunday. We understand that many people are nervous to visit a church for the first time, especially if they don't know others who attend there or if they haven't been to church in many years. We respect that and we will go out of our way to make your visit enjoyable.

Our Pastor's Philosophy

I have spent much of my life in church settings that encouraged my faith greatly, while also irritating me with pointless complexities. Between the yearly traditions, special programs, activities for the sake of having activities, musical cantatas, and complicated organizational structures, I have found myself longing for simplicity.

The church, at its heart, is not an over-complicated, over-structured, super-fund-raising organization. The church is people who share a common faith in Jesus Christ.

The Bible (in Acts 2:42) tells us that during its earliest (and purest) days, the church was devoted to four specific things.

1. The Apostle's teaching
2. Fellowship
3. The breaking of bread
4. Prayer

I believe that every human being was created with a deep, intrinsic desire to have a close relationship with our Creator. That desire is like a hole in our soul. Many people try to fill that hole with all sorts of things that they believe will bring them ultimate satisfaction. The truth is, we will never find satisfaction or fulfillment in life, nor will we understand life's purpose until we are in a close, loving relationship with God.

The church should encourage the growth of our relationship with God. For this reason, Core Creek Community Church is committed to the simple church structure that the early church embraced.

1. We will accurately teach the Bible (the Apostle's teaching). We will strive to be thorough in our understanding and proclamation of its teachings. Though we live in an age when the morals and views of Scripture are constantly challenged, questioned or diluted, we will not shy away from or glaze over any portion of God's Word.

2. We will encourage fellowship within the church. We believe that God has called us to help each other grow in our relationship with Him. He gives us gifts and talents that, when used properly, are helpful in building each other up. We are committed to spend time together and look for opportunities to invest in each others lives.

3. We will break bread together. The early church often ate meals together. This encouraged fellowship and conversation. They shared their food with each other and likewise, shared a part of their lives. They were also faithful in observing the Lord's Supper (communion) as a reminder of Jesus' death, resurrection and eventual return.

4. We will pray together and for each other. God has made it clear through His Word that faith pleases Him. Prayer is an expression of our faith in God. Through prayer we converse with our Lord. We praise Him for who He is. We confess to Him our sins, failings, weaknesses and shortcomings. We thank Him for what He has done and the prayers that He has answered. And we bring before Him our requests. Prayer is vitally important for our spiritual health.

Get Involved

At the top of this website, you can find the following phrase: Core Creek Community Church - "Where we gather together, grow in our faith and give back to our community."

For us, this is more than a motto or a slogan. Our goal as a church and as individuals is to follow the personal and spiritual growth process that is described in the Bible.

Jesus told His followers to be and to make "disciples." In a nutshell, a disciple is a person who follows the leadership of Jesus and seeks to grow mature in their faith. We believe that a disciple is devoted to four things; the apostle's teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread and prayer.

Becoming a mature follower of Jesus is a process that occurs over time. Our programs and ministries are structured to help our congregation facilitate this process. We simply encourage everyone in the church to participate in three specific ministries if they are able. Below is an outline of each.

1. Sunday Morning Worship: This is where we gather together to worship the Lord through singing, prayer, Bible-study, giving and fellowship. Our worship services are about an hour and fifteen minutes long and a "Children's Church" program is available for children. 2. Community Groups: Throughout the year, we host several Community Groups. Most groups meet for about eight weeks and cover a specific topic of interest. Some are held at the church building and others are hosted in the homes of different church members. The purpose of our Community Groups is to encourage deeper spiritual growth and give group members the opportunity to build solid friendships with each other. Those who participate in our Community Groups are encouraged to ask questions to seek a deeper understanding of God's will and purposes. Our Community Groups also take time to pray for each other's needs and concerns. Community Groups are lead by volunteer church leaders, or the pastor.

3. Service Teams: At Core Creek Community Church we believe in the value of serving others. Jesus was eager to serve others and we are as well. By serving others, we show them the love of Christ and improve their quality of life. Likewise, we grow in our faith at the same time. We try to create opportunities for everyone to get involved, regardless of your skills, gifts and talents. There are plenty of opportunities, all around us every day for us to make the lives of others a little better while displaying the genuine compassion of Jesus.

People serve in a variety of ways:

-Leading church ministries

-Visiting the elderly

-Maintaining the building and the property

-Volunteer projects in the community

-Mission efforts in different areas of the United States

-Mission efforts in different areas of the world

Nursery / Childcare

During our Sunday morning worship services, we offer nursery and childcare (Children's Church) for all children under the age of 10.

Nursery

Our nursery is located on the lower level of the church building. Nursery care is available for infants and children, up through age three.

Children's Church
Our Children's Church program runs during the "sermon" portion of the Sunday morning worship service. At that point in the service, all children under the age of 10 are invited to head down to the church's lower level for age appropriate lessons and activities.

Kid Zone

Kid Zone is our weekly children's program for children ages 4 - 11. It meets on Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 PM (mid-September through mid-April).

Each evening is filled with a variety of fun activities, all geared toward the interests and attention span of children as well as their spiritual growth and development. The weekly program is broken down into five, fun segments:

1. Singing
2. Craft
3. Bible lesson
4. Games
5. Snack

All children from the local community are welcome to participate. If you have further questions or need more information, please call our church office at 215.752.2129.

Christmas Memories Dinner, 12-14-08

On December 14, 2008, we enjoyed our "Christmas Memories Covered Dish Dinner." In addition to enjoying fellowship with many of our regular attenders, we were very happy to welcome quite a few guests and visitors.

We ate a lot of good food, and enjoyed some great conversation, music, games as well as a brief Bible message.

On October 24, 2008, we had a Game Night at the church. It was a lot of fun. Everyone enjoyed the strange assortment of board games and the delicious assortment of food. We're looking forward to doing this again in the near future.

Spiritual gifts

What are spiritual gifts?

About.com summarizes it this way: In 1 Corinthians 12, we learn that spiritual gifts are given to God's people by the Holy Spirit for "the common good." Verse 11 says the gifts are given according to God's sovereign will ("as he determines"). Ephesians 4:12 tells us these gifts are given to prepare God's people for service and for building up the body of Christ.

Our church believes that everyone who has trusted in Jesus Christ for His gift of salvation has subsequently been gifted by God in unique and important ways for the purpose of serving others and helping them grow.

There are many ways to get involved in the local church and experience the joy of serving others. We believe there is great value in learning how God has gifted you to serve so that your service will be more of a "joy" than a "burden."

If you're interested in getting more involved in the church and would like to discover how God may have gifted you to serve, please take 5 minutes to take the Spiritual Gifts Analysis. It is a simple survey that can help you identify the God-given abilities you possess.

Comedy Night, October 9th

Gordon Douglas, October 9th at 7:00 PM

October 9th is Comedy Night at the Newtown Community Church. At 7:00 PM, we will be welcoming Comedian, Gordon Douglas. Gordon has traveled throughout the country and is very entertaining. His routines are "family-friendly" so feel free to bring the kids. We look forward to seeing you there and we hope that we can count on your help to promote this event.

Admission is free, but we will be taking a free-will offering for a good cause. The Langhorne Rotary supports an effort called "Polio Plus." It is a program that provides much needed vaccines to children in developing countries. As a church, we want to do our part to help them in this effort.

We are looking forward to a great evening of entertainment!

We are accepting registrations now.
Please CLICK HERE to register your child.

Kids' Camp is a free program for the children of our community. There is no fee whatsoever for your children to attend. Our church hosts this yearly program as a way to be an encouragement to the parents and the children of our community. We hope that your children will have the chance to be a part of this year's fun program. For more information, please contact the church office at 215.752.2129.

Core Groups

Setting aside time to fellowship with other people is an important aspect of spiritual growth. Our church currently offers the opportunity for "small group fellowship" and Bible study to help you in this process.

Our Core Groups blend in-depth study of Scripture, personal interaction and prayer. Many new friendships have been forged through our Core Groups and genuine spiritual growth has been fostered in the lives of those who have participated.

We hope you will take advantage of these opportunities for growth. Times and dates for our upcoming Core Groups will be posted soon. The next round of Core Groups is slated to begin the week following Easter.

On February 1, 2009, we hosted our "Soup-er Bowl Sunday" lunch. Basically, we all brought soup and sandwiches to share and then played some football-themed games after we ate.

On January 18, 2009, we welcomed Adam & Becky Weiss to our church. Adam & Becky are preparing to move to Peru and serve as missionaries there. Please be in prayer for them as they raise much needed prayer and financial support.

We enjoyed some authentic Peruvian food prior to learning the specifics of the work that Adam & Becky are embarking on.

Our thanks to Scott & Sara Gift for providing the lunch and to Brandon Petcaugh for helping them prepare it. Thanks as well to Scott Gift for the pictures. (We should also say thank you to Ed Pfender for preventing the fire alarms from going off by venting the smoky kitchen through a side window ... see picture below).

Kid Zone, 1-8-09

Kid Zone is our weekly children's program. We enjoy singing songs, crafts, Bible lessons, games and snacks with the 5 - 10 year olds who come. Kid Zone meets every Thursday evening from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. These pictures were taken on January 8, 2009 during one of our meetings. A big thank you to all the adult volunteers who help out each week. Our thanks as well to Scott Gift for the pictures.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Christmas Eve is a wonderful time to worship together with friends and family as we celebrate the incarnation of Jesus Christ.

Each year, our church hosts a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 7:00 PM on December 24th. We sing familiar carols, contemplate the message from God's Word and finish the worship service with the lighting of candles and the singing of Silent Night.

We would love to invite you and your family to join us this year as we join together in this annual tradition.

Book Club

Each month, our church hosts a book club that discusses a variety of both classic and contemporary literature. The club is led by Chris & Heather Palladino. Each meeting begins with a simple supper of soup, salad, bread and pasta.

If you enjoy reading and discussing a wide array literature, you may enjoy participating in the book club. We would invite you to take a look at the upcoming books that will be discussed and if you're interested in participating, all you have to do is read the book and show up!

Mom's Group

MOMS@Core Creek meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays (Oct. - May) from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM. Bring a packed lunch and meet at the church. (Note: The first meeting of this season will be on October 11th.)

Christmas Project 2010

"Many people will spend this Christmas season focused on the accumulation of useless things and using Jesus as a convenient excuse to justify greed and materialism."

That probably sounds a little harsh, but nonetheless, it's an accurate description of what the Christmas season really means to many people - including quite a few Christians.

This year, our church is hoping to do something meaningful to help people, in Jesus' name, as we celebrate His incarnation. If the Lord has enabled you to do so, please prayerfully consider spending a little less on gifts and using the money that you would have spent to help people with a genuine need.

Children's Fellowship of India is an orphanage that reaches out to abandoned children in India. The children are cared for, fed, educated and taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ. One of the men who has been instrumental in starting this ministry is Philip Dongre. Philip has been to our church and his children are an active part of our church ministry.

To learn more about CFI, please take a moment to view the video posted above. Special envelopes will be available to designate gifts to this important ministry this Christmas. Thank you in advance for your prayers for CFI and your sacrificial gifts that go directly to helping these children.

Epicenter

Epicenter is a fun program for middle-school students in grades 6 - 8. It meets here at the church on Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. Each evening includes games, activities, lessons and snacks.

Epicenter begins in mid-September and concludes in mid-April. We hope to see you there!

Youth Group

Youth Group will be taking their Christmas break beginning on December 18th. We will resume our regular schedule again on January 15th.

Our Youth Group for students in grades 9 -12, meets on Sunday evenings from 6:30 -8:00 PM. During our meetings we eat food, play games and discuss a variety of topics. New students are always welcome.

During the year, we have a variety of events including; Christmas parties, Laser tag, and trips to Knoebels Amusement Park and the Pocono Mountain Bible Conference. Some of the students in the Youth Group also help with the implementation of our annual Kids' Camp program.
